Terry Deno opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. 30 attendees

Mel Neil reported a current balance of $5896.67 in the account.

Curt Fackler spoke on the MFTE (Multi Family Tax Exemption) for core areas that is up for renewal. Both Selkirk and Lusitano Apartment Complexes received a 10 year tax exemption at the time they were built. The City Council will need to decide by the end of the year if it should be renewed. More information can be found on the City Planning Commission Website.

There will be a “speed trailer” placed on Shawnee the last 2 weeks of May. It will be placed on the East side of Indian Trail, and the on the West side to remind drivers that the speed limit is 25mph. It has been difficult for the students walking along Shawnee to and from school with no sidewalks especially during this winter with the heavy snow. We are lobbying for a grant for a permanent indicator sign to be installed in the future.

The 2017 NITN Annual Yard Sale will be Sat. June 17. Reminders will be sent out the first of April.

The Neighborhood Clean Up will be a curbside pick-up on Tuesday, April 18. No rollout containers ---everything must be boxed or bagged. They need to be placed out by the curb by 7:00 a.m.

Mark Davies reported that there will be a city wide vote for a Property tax levy, or a Sales tax increase to improve existing sidewalks, replace damaged sidewalks, and add additional sidewalks.

Eric Olson from the Spokane Police Dept. spoke about Proposition 1 that will be on the April 25th ballot. It is a request to renew the existing 1/10 of 1% of local sales and use tax that keeps Spokane County’s emergency communication systems and services functional.

Cathy Bakken from the Indian Trail Library reported there is a renewal for the Library Operations Levy coming up for a vote. It will appear on the April 25th Ballot. It renews the existing levy lid lift for the Spokane Public Library regarding expanded Library operations and services. It would be continued for another 7 years if passed.

Candace Mumm stated that Barnes Rd has a tentative start date of June 2017, provided the rains let up.
City Council is working on snow plow improvements for next year.
Riverfront Park has the funding for the planned park upgrades, but not for the bridges. They need to be updated and the parks will need to find the funding to do so. They have been working on the ice rink, and the Carousel is slated to open Feb. 14th 2018
The asphalt plant opened last week and extra crews were brought in to help with the road repairs. Don’t forget to call 311 to report potholes!

Doug Strohsal spoke about the vehicle prowlings occurring recently. He reminded us all to be sure and not leave anything in our vehicles and to make sure they are locked!
