NITNC Meeting Minutes June 12, 2018 40 Attendees

Terry Deno opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. There will be no meetings in July and August. The next meeting will be on September 11, 2018. It will include a Business Roundup Ö an opportunity for representatives from the businesses in the North Indian Trail area to introduce themselves and share some information about their business. They will each be allowed 5 minutes.
The City Council conducted a Town Hall meeting Monday evening, June 11th at the West Central Community Center. Representatives from the neighborhoods were invited to give a 10 minute summary of what has been happening in their neighborhoods.
Jeanine McKinney reported a balance of $6,960.33 in the bank account. The collection box was passed around for donations toward the Summer Concerts Series.
Mark Davies reported on the upcoming events presented at the Community Assembly Meeting.
National Night Out Against Crime is planned at Shadle Park, Saturday, August 11th at 6 PM. Hosted by COPS Northwest.
The Bemis Neighborhood Council and the Audubon-Downriver will be hosting concerts in their area parks.
City of Spokane Parks and Recreation will be sponsoring Free Swimming at al 6 City Pools. Sign up for free Splash Pass at
Neighborhood Resource Officer/Neighborhood Council Workshop will be held this Fall. Seeking input for concerns /questions for the NRO.
Doug Strohsal reported an increase in the number of car prowlings in the neighborhood. These are crimes of opportunity. Donít leave anything in your car and take the garage door opener out of cars parked outside. Vehicle theft is huge in Spokane now.
Janet Robel spoke about the upcoming Concerts for this summer planned for the lawn area outside POP Church. The 1st concert will be held on Sunday, July 1stat 6PM. Others will follow on Wednesday evenings at 7PM through August 1st.
Mel Neil gave an update on the Yard Sale to be held Saturday, June 23rd from 8AM-4PM. There are about 75-80 homes participating. He said that we need to order some more signs for the homes to display in their yards for the annual yard sales. A hand vote was requested to place an order for 100 signs which should last for about 3 years. All of the attendees voted in favor to purchase more signs.
Bob Turner from the Traffic Dept. spoke about the results of the traffic study on Barnes Road. It is considered a 30 mph Arterial. The average speed was found to be 33 mph. The road use averaged 2,500 cars per day. Counts will be studied again after 12,24 and 36 months.
Nathan Gwinn from the City Planning Dept. spoke about a New Infill Ordinance the city is working on. It involves development of vacant lots in already developed areas in Spokane. For more information go to Infill Housing/Development.
