North Indian Trail
Neighborhood Council Meeting
April 14, 2009

John Dietzman welcomed 73 attendees. He explained that the new sign at Indian Trail & Strong advertising a self storage facility did not mean a new facility would be built there. The facility advertised is an existing one and the owner has no plans to build one in our neighborhood.
Election of Officers will take place at the May 12, 2009 meeting. Nominations were requested and anyone interested in serving as an officer of the NITNC was asked to contact John Dietzman.
Indian Trail Clean Up is in progress and Saturday April the 18th is the big work day. Procedures and safety rules were reviewed.

Terry Deno said dump passes received tonight are good from Apr.24- May 2nd. He will check into hazardous waste pick up again this year. Remember you can bring your spent fluorescent light bulbs in for recycle to our monthly meetings.

Becky Nellis, Supervisor for “First Call For Help”, described the services offered by this organization. It is a component of Spokane Mental Health’s Crisis Response Services that maintains a 24 hour Crisis Hotline. They need volunteers to man the phones 4 hours a week.

Buster Aylesworth, Director of our COPS Shop reviewed crime statistics for our neighborhood.

Jim Bakke gave an update on the Community Assembly:
- Rebuilding Five Mile Road is progressing and will include bike lanes, walking paths, additional lanes, and turn lanes to some sections. He brought blue prints of area being re-done.
- Splash Pad is to be completed around June 15th, Consensus is that people are coming around about having it there at Pacific Park.
- Pools being worked on, they want to charge a fee to use the pools during certain hours.

Dwayne Jantz reported that we have a balance of $4756.48 in our treasury.

City Council Update by Nancy McLaughlin: Barnes road is a tier 2 priority so it will not be completed for at least 6 years, Strong Road will not be considered for paving as an arterial due to it’s steep grade. It will only be paved to access homes as they are built.

Yard Sale will be June 20th (Craig Culbertson will head). More information to come.

Respectfully submitted, Karla Hernandez
