Curt Fackler, Chairman, NITNC, welcomed the 48+ attendees. This was a Joint Meeting. He introduced Kathy Miotke, Chair 5MileNC, and Karen Kearney, Chair Balboa/SITNC, and they both made comments about their neighborhoods.

Jim Bakke provided an update on Community Assembly activities.

Diana Postlewait reported we have $2633.78 in our treasury..

Walt Jones, NOP Representative gave a Crime Update.

John Dietzman gave a progress report on our Traffic Calming proposals.

Curt Fackler reported on the Weiber Drive parking problem.

Terry Deno reported that dump passes would be issued at next months meeting.

Bob Faltermeyer, Executive Director, Excelsior School, gave an extensive report on the history and current mission of Excelsior which includes residential care for abused and neglected children and child welfare referrals, plus day treatment for children with drug and mental problems, plus schooling for these children. They are on 38 acres, 15 of which are in a wild state, and they serve on the order of 45 students.

Christy Hamilton, C.O.P.S. , discussed the Block Watch, Family ID, and Amber Alert programs. She said that West Plains will soon have a COPS Shop in conjunction with the Geiger Facility. Garland Neighborhood has identified a location for a COPS Shop, and is looking for funding and volunteers.

Tim Burns, Police Ombudsman, gave a report on his activities and the number a type of citizen complaints he had processed in 2011. He also reported the large number and type of police contacts and arrests that had occurred without any complaints. He said he was in favor of the proposal to equip police officers with video cameras (cost is $400,000 to $500,000).
